Trick or Treat 2012

For a look back - 2011, 2010 (scroll to the bottom of the post)

Thank you Aunt Janel for sending fun costumes our way.  Seth loved his Captain America costume this year.

Happy Halloween!

Cheering Her On

We recently spent some time downtown cheering for a friend who was running a marathon.

Look how happy she looks...after about 20 miles...crazy girl! (photo credit - Heather A.)
The boys passed the time giving high-fives to anyone who would run by.  That's John's friend David running up to Colin.

When high-fives got old they decided to run their own race.  They ran this stretch of sidewalk over and over again for about 30 minutes.

We caught up with our friend Heather around mile 23 (photo credit - Seth)

Congratulations Jenny!  We are so proud of you!

First Fire

Two days ago I was wearing a tank top and flip flops.  Today it's freezing.   Okay, it's not the temperature where things actually freeze but it's coooooold!

We use our fireplace to heat the house all through the winter, which is not easy.  Lots of wood chopping, wood hauling, fire stoking, ash clean-up, etc.  We're happy that it helps keep our heating costs down but we're also happy when it gets warm enough in the spring so we can stop.

Man how time flies!  The boys were excited to see me gathering wood this afternoon.  They like to sit and "make their backs warm".  No worries grandmothers...they are well aware of the dangers and behave accordingly.

It's warm and cozy now!  But that fireplace won't be that clean again for a long time.

Oklahoma Crafting

As mentioned before, John's parents have built a log cabin on their property to provide a place for their kids and grand kids to stay when they visit.

I keep meaning to get a towel rack for the bathroom but never manage to remember until I have a wet towel in hand.

So...we decided to just make one.

I scoured the woods for branches and roamed around the scrap wood pile for a board (with just the right amount of character).

While the boys took a nap one afternoon, we got to work.

We would have made great pioneers.  If pioneers had power tools and an affinity for air conditioning.
