Ad Nauseum

The house updates may be getting a bit much I know. However, there are times when I'm too excited to talk about other things. And it is my blog afterall. Just keep looking at my pictures and I'll work on a non-house related post soon.

If you look very closely at the picture below, you can see Carhartt in the doorway. He's already taking ownership I'm afraid. I can just hear him saying, "Thanks for the new doghouse...come visit anytime."

I call it "Sick Puppy"
Sheena is having surgery on Wednesday on her teeth and gums. And after a pre-op vet visit this morning, the surgery will now include her tear duct.
She's milkin' it for all its worth, and I have to admit I'm giving her all the sympathy she seeks.

There She Goes Again

As John is learning more and more every day, I tend to have a lot of opinions about things. I do pretty well at keeping most of them to myself. But sometimes its just too much and I must comment or make suggestions. It's the same for good things and bad.

I'm getting ready to write a letter to the manager of our bank, complimenting the financial service representative who has been so helpful in a very frustrating process of allowing John to spend all my money.

But today I reached a new low. I want to be understanding of particular situations and try to think through all the reasons why people are the way they are. But I just couldn't take it anymore. The following letter had to be written and I feel horrible for the action that will be taken because of it.

Dear Food Service Manager:

I have noticed on a few occasions that the woman who works the sandwich line does not properly fasten her dental bridge. It would not be a problem except that at least twice I have noticed that when she talks, she unintentionally spits on the meat trays.

I know sanitation practices are discussed with your employees but wanted to inform you of this concern so maybe more specific instructions could be given to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

It could quite possibly be the strangest letter I've written yet but it had to be done.

Update: The sandwich lady was not working the sandwich line yesterday. She was instead refilling the trays and seems to be enjoying her new job.

Bigger Cabin in the Woods...with a second floor

Building has slowed down a bit with freezing rain, continued freezing temperatures, and a "winter storm advisory" in effect until noon on Sunday. (For my out of town friends and family, all that means is, its cold and will likely snow. It's not as dramatic as we make it sound.)

But it gives us time to catch up on our photos.

Our posts have been installed. These will sit on either side of the kitchen island. We (and by we I mean John and his dad) cut these down during one of our visits to the ranch. We also got all the posts for the front porch and the loft.

We now have a second floor.

With stairs!
Here's John on a slightly warmer, sunnier day

I call it, "Sawdust Slumber"
I asked Carrhart if he was having a good time living on a construction site. I told him he could find a nice pile of sawdust to keep him warm. Within a few minutes, this is where I found him. He's a genius!

A Blogging Year in Review

I've given up making New Year's Resolutions, despite my success in keeping them over the last couple of years. I don't know if it's because there are so many new things going on right now (new husband, new house, cute new brown boots) that adding one more new thing just seems overwhelming? Or maybe it's that I finally don't have a "to-do" list that requires using both sides of the paper, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Whatever the reason, I'm not doing it.

So instead of a January post about what I resolve to do, I'll create a January post about what I've already done.

I shamelessly stole this idea from other blogs I read but thought it was interesting. It's a summary of the last year by taking the first line of the first post from each month. Since I started this little adventure in March we'll have to start there.

I hope this is as interesting as it seems to be. It would probably help if I were as interesting as the bloggers I read but here goes...

(Click on the month to see the full post.)

March: I've been a little blog-curious.

April: I have a secret desire to be a singer.

May: I have found myself involved in numerous shopping experiences lately.

June: Welcome to a new feature on this blog.

July: I just wanted to let you know that we are home safe and sound from our African adventure.

August: I want to welcome three new bloggers to the program.

September: I had a very productive Labor Day weekend.

October: Okay, so things are a little busy.

November: We're back and we're married!

December: I found this picture this morning.

Well, that's a pretty accurate summary of the year I suppose.

Happy 2007!

Bigger Cabin in the Woods...with Rooms

Here's an update on the house...we're trying to keep up with builder in this pictoral journey. He gets more and more done every day for which we are grateful.

The living room is to the left. The master bedroom is behind the prison bars in the middle.
The front door is to the right.
