Same Size Cabin in the Woods...with a roof!!

Sorry for the lack of updating lately. As you can see we've been busy! And don't be fooled...this is not a miniature replica made out of Lincoln Logs...that's really our house!

The roof is nearly finished. Just a couple more sheets of metal and we are done!

Here's John all hooked up on the roof. Safety first!

We also completed another very important part of this process. And by "we", I mean a nice man and his son who came out with their big machines and fancy measuring devices to install a crucial part of our house plans. This is our septic system, for you city-folk (like me who have heard of such things but have never prodded for more information). There are actually five "chambers" side-by-side that now sit underground in our front field. My mom was with us on this blessed day and said, "That's a lot of poo!" I'm sorry mom, but you said it and you know these things could end up published. She's right though... that's 425 ft. of poo to be exact!

On this day, while the nice man with the big machines was digging big ditches, mom and I installed two door knobs. It took us a while to decipher the directions but in three hours time...two door knobs with deadbolts were installed. No wonder building a house is taking so long right? And of course, there are no pictures of this.

We've started the process of discussing kitchen cabinets and countertops which is almost as exciting as actually getting those things purchased and installed. We're headed in the right direction folks!

More to come...

It's really looking good! Remember....quality craftsmanship takes longer, or at least that's what my dad says when my mom starts complaining about how long it takes him to make something! :)

Gotta take care of that poo! Looks great! The STAIN looks good too! Let me clarify...the stain on the HOUSE looks good. (One should never use the word "poo" and "stain" in the same paragraph. :)
