Funny Things the Boys Have Said

Usually I wait to post funny things the boys have said until I have a few built up, but I just couldn't wait to share.

First, some background...On the day Colin turned three a switch went off in his little brain and he began his contrary phase.  If you say "up" he says "down".  If you say "yes" he says "no".  Sometimes we play this game just for fun but most of the time it's not fun at all.  I'm hoping on his fourth birthday (only two weeks to go) the contrary switch will flip back and we'll get to see the sweet cheery Colin we all know and love.

Without his propensity to disagree with everything however, we would have missed out on this little nugget.

I was laying down this afternoon (migraines are dumb) and John was keeping the boys occupied in the kitchen making applesauce.  He turned on a CD of kid's praise songs.  Seth was cheerfully singing along to "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus."  (Sing it now if you know it...go ahead...I'll wait.)

From the corner Colin mumbles, "Nope, not following Jesus.  I'm turning back."

Oh dear Colin.  It's a good thing you're cute and funny.  God forgive him for he knows not what he says and please let this phase come to its rightful end.

I was filling some paperwork out for the early education program in our school district. They asked us what we most enjoyed about our child (Colin).  I said his use of language.  He is articulate and confident in expressing how he feels or what he thinks with peers and adults.  They then asked what we found most challenging about our child.  I said his expressive language and his ability to express how he feels or what his thinks with peers and adults.

This video has nothing to do with the post...just a moment of cuteness that should be pondered.
